The actual issue for banknote manufacturers in recent years is the development of printing production technologies, which aim to preserve as much as possible their cleanness from bacterial contamination. A possible way to solve this issue is createing a protective antibacterial coating on banknotes by covering the surface of water-based varnish with the addition of silver nano-sized particles colloidal solution. The resulting protective layer of varnish should not distort the tactile sensations of notes which are an established feature of authenticity for the public.
The aim of this study was to improve the methods of tactile discrimination of paper described in the literature to allow its use in the study of tactile properties banknotes after varnishing, and conducting experimental studies of tactile properties of banknotes after coating water-based varnish with the addition of nano-silver concentrate as a bactericidal agent.
The article is dedicated to the investigation of tactile discrimination of paper banknotes after water-based varnishing with addition of nano-sized particles of silver according to the 3-alternative forced-choice procedure «one of ...».
Results of the experts survey give reason to believe that the recipe for the coating mixture may cause changes in familiar tactile sensations users banknotes. The dependence that a reduction of the water-based varnish volume in mixture for varnishing reduced tactile differences of varnished and unvarnished sample surfaces.
