     This article is devoted to the urgent question of the hydrodynamic power losses in the water-ring vacuum pumps and compressors. Analyses of the losses components and mathematical equations for the open-type impeller are given. The effect of cohesion loss between impeller blades and liquid-packed ring in the widest section of the blade-less channel is described. Experimental data and encompassing formulas are enclosed.
