Increasing of banknotes durability by means of varnishing.

The durability of banknote paper and presentation banknotes covered with UV-varnishes of two types of solidification have been studied in this paper. As a result, it was determined that the application of UV-varnish of cationic type of solidification provides higher level of banknote paper and presentation banknotes durability in comparison with UV-varnish of radical type of solidification. The optimal characteristics of anilox roller were established as 120 lines/cm lineature and 9 сm3/m2 cell volume.
The optimal technological regimes for banknotes and banknote paper are different because of the printing affects the properties and durability of banknotes. It indicates that in the case of using UV-varnish of cationic type of solidification for increasing of Ukrainian hryvnia banknotes durability technological regimes of varnishing need of additional qualification during the artificial deterioration of printed banknotes.
The obtained results can be introduced to production process at Banknote Printing Factory of the National Bank of Ukraine for issue of more durable vanished banknotes. Expected life length of vanished banknotes is 1,94 times higher that will reduce production cost.
